Principles for Responsible Banking

The Financial Times write that on Sunday afternoon, a group of 140 banks joined to sign the UN Principles for Responsible Banking. The German Handelsblatt titles 130 Banken verpflichten sich zu nachhaltiger Ausrichtung.

Let us see if that turns out more than a greenwashing exercise!

In addition to the PRB, more than thirty banks have joined on to an additional, more stringent, “Collective Commitment to Climate Action” pledge to “align [their] portfolios to reflect and finance the low-carbon, climate-resilient economy required to limit global warming to well-below 2, striving for 1.5 degrees Celsius.”

Original source for the PRB.

Greta Thunberg delivered a speech where she adressed Germany and “[…] alleges that Brazil, France, Germany, Argentina and Turkey knew about the dangers of climate change but failed to curb their carbon emissions and continued to promote fossil fuels.”

Keep calling out their bullshit, Greta!
